Our Mission

Reach Out 2 Someone Else is a non-profit organization. Our mission is to reduce disparities in access to culturally and linguistically matched, quality mental health care. The title: ‘Reach Out 2 Someone Else’ aims to be a reminder that connecting with others can be healthy for your mental/emotional stability.

Across the nation, communities of color access mental health services at a lesser rate than white community members. Some barriers include family stigmas, past uncomfortable experiences with healthcare professionals and lack of insurance (or other financial means). Without health insurance, access to mental health services is limited and communities of color suffer as a result.

Untreated mental health concerns ultimately lead to mental health conditions. We believe that early engagement in mental health therapy reduces the long-term effects of stress on our minds. Suffering with emotional pain can manifest into depression, anxiety, struggles to manage anger and high conflict in relationships. Our mission is to improve the rate at which people of color, both adults and children engage in mental healthcare.  Our goal is to improve the access to mental health services for uninsured community members, by removing the financial barrier and connecting them to qualified mental health professionals.

In order to sustain our mission and not rely solely on donated services to assist community members, we need your help. It is vital for our mission to levy financial support from the community at large. Please click on the support link to donate and/or sponsor a community member.

What is Mental Health?

Mental health is the condition of your mind.  It affects how we behave, think and how we feel emotionally. Our mental health determines how we handle stress, make choices, and relate to others.

What is Mental Health Therapy?

Mental health therapy is support from a trained professional. The goal of therapy is to help strengthen our minds and heal emotional pain by learning new skills to manage stress from our past and present experiences. A healthy mind is better able to handle the stress within our day to day lives.
